Offramp was a payments company offering self-custodial USD accounts and debit cards for freelancers. It let remote workers receive payouts from platforms like Deel and Upwork and spend the funds worldwide.

Offramp was a payments company that gave freelancers and remote workers a self-custodial USD account for receiving international payments. It allowed users to accept payouts from freelance and gig platforms directly into a dollar-denominated balance, convert funds to stablecoins, and hold value outside a traditional bank account.

The service addressed delays common in cross-border freelance payments by settling incoming transfers within seconds rather than days. Funds could be spent through a linked debit card compatible with mobile wallet payments, sent to local bank accounts or regional transfer networks, or moved to a self-custodial crypto wallet across multiple blockchains.

Beyond payments, the platform offered access to fractional shares of stocks and other savings products funded from a user's dollar balance. It served freelancers, remote workers, and digital nomads, particularly across Latin America, who needed a faster way to receive and use international earnings. The company announced it is winding down operations, with services being phased out through the end of 2026.

## Legal

This data is provided under two licensing models.

Model 1 - open data. The open data core is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) — a copyleft/share-alike license allowing free use, modification, and sharing for any purpose. Attribution is required: include "Powered by The Grid" linking to https://thegrid.id wherever the data is used. Derivative databases must be shared under ODbL terms. Trademarks, logos, and brand names (marked "Special TPIP") are not covered by the ODbL. For ML/AI use: training datasets that substantially extract ODbL data are Derivative Databases and must be shared under ODbL if publicly used; models must be attributed in documentation.

Model 2 - commercial licenses. The Grid Data Service (TGDS) is also available as a commercial license. See [Web Services Terms](https://about.thegrid.id/legal/web-services-terms) for commercial use that is not covered by the open data service.
