# Algorand > Blockchain that scales with your ambition. Algorand enables fast, final transactions on a decentralized blockchain through Pure Proof-of-Stake consensus. Algorand is a Layer-1 blockchain designed for speed and finality through Pure Proof-of-Stake consensus. Transactions achieve instant finality, preventing forks and double-spending without lengthy confirmation times. The protocol supports native asset creation through Algorand Standard Assets, atomic transfers for multi-party transactions, and state proofs for trustless cross-chain verification. - Type: Company - Sector: Blockchain Platforms - Status: Active - Founded: 2017-06-01 - Profile: https://thegrid.id/profiles/algorand_co ## Products - [Algorand Mainnet](https://thegrid.id/profiles/algorand_co): The Algorand mainnet processes transactions and executes smart contracts with instant finality through Pure Proof-of-Stake consensus. The network eliminates forks by design, settling transactions in seconds with low fees. Validators participate permissionlessly while the protocol maintains energy efficiency and supports post-quantum cryptographic standards. (L1, Live, Main Product) - [Pera Wallet](https://thegrid.id/profiles/algorand_co): Pera Wallet is a non-custodial mobile wallet for storing, sending, and receiving ALGO and Algorand Standard Assets. Users maintain full control of their private keys while earning participation rewards through native staking. The wallet provides direct access to Algorand-based decentralized applications. (Wallet, Live) - [AlgoKit](https://thegrid.id/profiles/algorand_co): AlgoKit is a developer toolkit for building decentralized applications on Algorand. It provides native TypeScript and Python smart contract development with CLI tools for project scaffolding, local blockchain testing, automated deployment, and a visual debugger. The toolkit includes LORA, a web-based explorer for inspecting on-chain accounts, transactions, and applications during development. (Developer Tooling, Live) ## Assets - [Algorand (ALGO)](https://thegrid.id/profiles/algorand_co): ALGO is the native token of the Algorand blockchain. It is used for paying transaction fees, participating in network consensus, and voting on governance proposals. Unlike other proof-of-stake approaches where users must lock up their tokens, on Algorand users maintain control of their ALGO at all times, enabling participation in securing the network while retaining full liquidity and spending power. Model 1 - open data. The open data core is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) — a copyleft/share-alike license allowing free use, modification, and sharing for any purpose. Attribution is required: include "Powered by The Grid" linking to https://thegrid.id wherever the data is used. Derivative databases must be shared under ODbL terms. Trademarks, logos, and brand names (marked "Special TPIP") are not covered by the ODbL. For ML/AI use: training datasets that substantially extract ODbL data are Derivative Databases and must be shared under ODbL if publicly used; models must be attributed in documentation. Model 2 - commercial licenses. The Grid Data Service (TGDS) is also available as a commercial license.
