# Anvil > Trust isn't given. It's built. Anvil helps users manage collateral and issue fully secured credit through smart contracts on Ethereum. Anvil helps DeFi users manage collateral efficiently by providing smart contract infrastructure for credit issuance. With it, users can deposit digital assets as collateral, create letters of credit for transactions, and participate in decentralized governance. Anvil aims to reduce counterparty risk in financial transactions by securing credit with transparent on-chain collateral management. - Type: Project - Sector: Finance - Status: Active - Founded: 2024-05-01 - Profile: https://thegrid.id/profiles/anvil ## Products - [Anvil Protocol](https://thegrid.id/profiles/anvil): Anvil Protocol implements collateral management through smart contracts, enabling credit issuance and letter of credit creation. The system manages vault deposits while facilitating decentralized governance through ANVL token holders. (Decentralised Borrowing & Lending, Live, Main Product) ## Assets - [Anvil (ANVL)](https://thegrid.id/profiles/anvil): ANVL is the governance token of Anvil Protocol on Ethereum. It is used to vote on protocol upgrades, decisions on which assets can be supported as collateral, and approvals for external contract integrations. Holding ANVL gives token holders direct control over the credit issuance system, including which collateral types are accepted and which external contracts can interact with the protocol.
