# Linea > The home network for the world Linea is a zkEVM layer 2 blockchain that scales Ethereum while preserving full EVM compatibility and inheriting Ethereum's security. Linea is a zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine layer 2 blockchain built to scale Ethereum without compromising security or decentralization. Developed by Consensys, it uses zkSNARK technology to provide fast, low-cost transactions while maintaining full Ethereum equivalence. Linea enables instant withdrawals through zero-knowledge proofs and supports all Ethereum tools and applications without code changes. - Type: Network - Sector: Blockchain Platforms - Status: Active - Founded: 2023-01-01 - Profile: https://thegrid.id/profiles/linea ## Products - [Linea Mainnet](https://thegrid.id/profiles/linea): Linea Mainnet is a zkEVM layer 2 rollup that executes transactions off-chain and submits zero-knowledge proofs to Ethereum, enabling scalable execution while maintaining security through Ethereum's consensus layer. (L2, Live, Main Product) - [Linea Bridge](https://thegrid.id/profiles/linea): Linea Bridge is a canonical token bridge that enables asset transfers between Ethereum and Linea using lock-and-mint mechanisms with automatic and manual claiming options. (Bridge, Live) ## Assets - [Linea (LINEA)](https://thegrid.id/profiles/linea): LINEA is the utility token of the Linea network, a zkEVM layer 2 rollup on Ethereum. It is used to fund builders, users, liquidity providers, and Ethereum public goods, with 80% of net ETH profits used to burn LINEA, reducing LINEA supply through a deflationary mechanism. ETH is the sole gas token; the LINEA token is not used for fees or governance, distinguishing it from traditional layer 2 tokens by channeling value through ecosystem incentives rather than transaction payments. Model 1 - open data. The open data core is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) — a copyleft/share-alike license allowing free use, modification, and sharing for any purpose. Attribution is required: include "Powered by The Grid" linking to https://thegrid.id wherever the data is used. Derivative databases must be shared under ODbL terms. Trademarks, logos, and brand names (marked "Special TPIP") are not covered by the ODbL. For ML/AI use: training datasets that substantially extract ODbL data are Derivative Databases and must be shared under ODbL if publicly used; models must be attributed in documentation. Model 2 - commercial licenses. The Grid Data Service (TGDS) is also available as a commercial license. See [Web Services Terms](https://about.thegrid.id/legal/web-services-terms) for commercial use that is not covered by the open data service.
