# LocalPay > Wherever you are — move freely, locally and globally LocalPay is a self-custodial stablecoin wallet for everyday payments. It lets users pay at local merchants by scanning existing QR codes while keeping full control of their assets. LocalPay is a self-custodial stablecoin wallet built as a payments company serving travelers and digital nomads. It allows users to pay at everyday merchants by scanning existing local QR codes, converting stablecoin balances into payments without requiring a bank account. The service is aimed at stablecoin holders who want to spend digital assets in physical, everyday settings rather than holding them idle. The platform addresses the gap between holding stablecoins and using them for daily purchases in emerging markets where QR based mobile payments are already common. Users retain control of private keys throughout, receive real time transaction notifications, and complete transfers without hidden fees. The wallet operates on a single blockchain network and currently focuses its merchant coverage on one Southeast Asian country, with further regional coverage planned. LocalPay's core offering is its mobile wallet application, which supports scanning merchant QR codes for point of sale payments and peer to peer transfers between users. Access to certain enhanced features requires identity verification, while basic wallet functions remain available without it. It is used by travelers, digital nomads, and other stablecoin holders seeking to spend crypto assets in everyday commerce, and remains an early stage offering as it expands merchant and country coverage. - Type: Company - Sector: Payments - Status: Announced - Founded: 2025-05-01 - Profile: https://thegrid.id/profiles/localpay ## Products - [LocalPay Wallet](https://thegrid.id/profiles/localpay): LocalPay Wallet is a self-custodial stablecoin wallet for everyday payments in emerging markets.
