Paymento is a non-custodial crypto payment gateway that lets merchants accept cryptocurrency payments without giving up control of their funds. Rather than holding customer or merchant funds itself, the platform generates payment addresses from a merchant's public key and monitors the blockchain for incoming transactions, so payments settle directly to the merchant's own wallet, including offline hardware wallets.

The service addresses a common friction point in crypto commerce, where payment processors typically take custody of funds before settlement. Paymento works across both UTXO-based networks and account-based blockchains, giving merchants access to a wide range of supported crypto assets through a single integration. Because it does not custody funds, the platform also operates without collecting standard identity verification from payers.

Its core offering is the payment gateway, which merchants can embed through prebuilt plugins or direct API integration, alongside a payment link tool for accepting crypto without a website and an invoicing feature for issuing payment requests to customers. Paymento also offers installment payments, letting shoppers borrow against crypto assets held in smart contracts through connected decentralized lending protocols to pay over time while retaining their collateral. ## Legal

This data is provided under two licensing models.

Model 1 - open data. The open data core is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) — a copyleft/share-alike license allowing free use, modification, and sharing for any purpose. Attribution is required: include "Powered by The Grid" linking to https://thegrid.id wherever the data is used. Derivative databases must be shared under ODbL terms. Trademarks, logos, and brand names (marked "Special TPIP") are not covered by the ODbL. For ML/AI use: training datasets that substantially extract ODbL data are Derivative Databases and must be shared under ODbL if publicly used; models must be attributed in documentation.

Model 2 - commercial licenses. The Grid Data Service (TGDS) is also available as a commercial license. See [Web Services Terms](https://about.thegrid.id/legal/web-services-terms) for commercial use that is not covered by the open data service.
