# Sablier > Onchain token distribution Sablier is an onchain token distribution protocol. It provides streaming payment infrastructure for vesting, payroll, airdrops, and grants used by DAOs and businesses. Sablier is an onchain token distribution protocol, developed by Sablier Labs, that provides streaming payment infrastructure for organizations distributing tokens over time. It is built from persistent smart contracts deployed across multiple EVM compatible blockchains, allowing tokens to be released continuously rather than in lump sums. The protocol addresses the friction of traditional lump-sum token transfers, which rely on trust between parties and can create sudden sell pressure. Streams release tokens on a per-second basis according to configurable schedules, including linear curves, cliffs, and custom distribution shapes, and recipients can withdraw vested amounts at any time without further involvement from the sender. Because the underlying contracts are permissionless and self-custodial, streams continue to function independently of any single operator. Core use cases include token vesting, payroll, airdrops, and grants, with tooling that lets organizations configure and manage large numbers of streams at once. It is used by DAOs, protocols, and companies distributing tokens to teams, investors, and communities. Trademarks, logos, and brand names (marked "Special TPIP") are not covered by the ODbL. For ML/AI use: training datasets that substantially extract ODbL data are Derivative Databases and must be shared under ODbL if publicly used; models must be attributed in documentation.
