Users fund a card balance with supported cryptocurrencies, and when they pay in stores or online, that balance converts to local currency at the point of sale so merchants are paid in fiat over card payment networks. The service targets crypto holders who want to spend their holdings directly without first moving funds through an exchange and a bank.

Card services are provided through licensed card issuing partners, with cards issued under card network licenses. Users complete identity verification to activate a card and unlock higher limits, since the platform does not offer an anonymous product. Funding supports a range of digital assets, including stablecoins available across multiple blockchain networks, so users can top up from whichever network they already hold assets on.

SolCard offers a virtual card aimed at online spending and a physical card that adds mobile wallet support for in-store payments. Cards can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay for contactless use, and balances can be withdrawn or transferred without lockup periods. The platform also has an associated token used within its ecosystem. It is used by individual crypto holders seeking practical ways to spend digital assets in daily life.

## Legal

This data is provided under two licensing models.

Model 1 - open data. The open data core is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) — a copyleft/share-alike license allowing free use, modification, and sharing for any purpose. Attribution is required: include "Powered by The Grid" linking to https://thegrid.id wherever the data is used. Derivative databases must be shared under ODbL terms. Trademarks, logos, and brand names (marked "Special TPIP") are not covered by the ODbL. For ML/AI use: training datasets that substantially extract ODbL data are Derivative Databases and must be shared under ODbL if publicly used; models must be attributed in documentation.

Model 2 - commercial licenses. The Grid Data Service (TGDS) is also available as a commercial license. See [Web Services Terms](https://about.thegrid.id/legal/web-services-terms) for commercial use that is not covered by the open data service.
